Residents of Epe are set to benefit more from the ongoing transportation reforms and infrastructure projects introduced by the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Eko Hot News reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation highlighted several achievements affecting Epe and other growing communities during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the Sanwo-Olu administration has continued to invest in transportation systems aimed at improving mobility and reducing travel challenges across Lagos.
According to the commissioner, Epe remains an important part of the state’s long-term transportation and urban development strategy due to its rapid growth and economic potential.
Osiyemi noted that intelligent traffic signal lights have already been installed in Epe to improve traffic coordination, road safety, and vehicular movement within the area.
The smart traffic system forms part of broader efforts by the state government to modernise transportation management through technology-driven solutions.
The commissioner explained that Lagos is expanding transportation infrastructure through rail, road, water transport, and cleaner mobility initiatives designed to support growing communities like Epe.

Osiyemi also highlighted the E-Call Up System introduced along the Lekki-Epe Corridor to regulate truck activities and improve traffic flow on the busy route.
The initiative is expected to support smoother movement of goods and reduce delays experienced by motorists and businesses operating within the Lekki-Epe axis.
The ministry further disclosed that Lagos continues to strengthen public transportation through investments in buses, rail systems, and integrated payment solutions.
According to officials, Lagos Bus Services Limited has transported over 60 million passengers since inception, with thousands of commuters using the services daily.
The state government also expanded the Cowry Card unified payment system across buses, rail lines, and ferry operations to create a more seamless transportation experience.
Osiyemi said the administration’s transportation policies are designed to support economic activities, save travel time, and improve the daily commuting experience for residents.
He explained that transportation improvements in Epe will also support tourism, commerce, housing development, and investment opportunities within the area.
Stakeholders believe Epe’s growing importance within Lagos makes continued infrastructure investment necessary for future development.
The state government has also intensified efforts toward cleaner and sustainable transportation through the use of Compressed Natural Gas buses and electric mobility initiatives.
Officials stated that these initiatives are helping to reduce fuel costs, improve environmental sustainability, and modernise public transportation systems across Lagos.
