Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Community Development Committee (CDC) held a retreat aimed at improving the effectiveness of Community Development.
Epe Insights reports that the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Local Government, Adewale Adebanjo.
The retreat focused on the theme “The Roles of Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Today’s Governance,” bringing together CDA leaders, stakeholders, and community representatives

The gathering provided an opportunity for participants to review the role of CDAs in grassroots development. Discussions centered on improving collaboration between communities and government.
Adebanjo reiterated the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance. He noted that CDAs remain essential partners in delivering development at the grassroots level.
He encouraged participants to work in unity. He also urged them to ensure that deliberations produced practical and impactful outcomes.
The retreat was formally declared open by the Supervisor for Agriculture and Social Services, Olusola Edalere.
Edalere appreciated the initiative and urged participants to engage fully in all sessions. He stressed the importance of active participation in discussions.

Resource persons at the retreat included financial analyst Mr. Rotimi Owolawi and Alhaja Muhibah Balogun.
Their presentations focused on governance issues such as accountability, citizen participation, and conflict resolution. They also emphasized transparency in community leadership.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions throughout the programme. These sessions explored ways to strengthen local governance structures.
Speakers encouraged CDAs to remain transparent and proactive. They also highlighted the need for alignment with government policies.

Unity and collaboration were repeatedly emphasized. Stakeholders noted that development is most effective when communities work together.
The CDC Chairman, Adeboye Jabita, expressed appreciation to the local government for its support.
He reaffirmed the CDC’s commitment to continuous capacity building. According to him, training programmes remain vital for effective community leadership.
Jabita said the retreat would enhance CDA performance. He noted that empowered associations contribute more meaningfully to development.
The event also featured the presence of CDC executives and supervisors. They participated actively in all sessions.
At the end of the retreat, participants pledged renewed commitment. They agreed to strengthen their roles in governance and community development.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to promote sustainable growth across Ibeju-Lekki.
