The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has received officials of the Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) during a courtesy visit to his office.

Epe Insights reports that the delegation, led by Team Lead Coordinator Oluwatoyin Salaam, presented an overview of the initiative aimed at empowering women economically and socially across Nigeria.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders within the council. Legislators, supervisors, and heads of departments were in attendance.

Officials explained that the programme is a Federal Government initiative. It is designed to support women engaged in business activities.

The project has been domesticated in Lagos State. It is being implemented through the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The rollout follows the directive of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. Authorities say the programme aligns with the state’s social development goals.

Ibeju-Lekki is among the pilot areas for the initiative. Other selected councils include Alimosho and Apapa.

A representative of the team, Dr Ahmed, outlined the structure of the programme. He noted that it targets women aged 18 and above.

Beneficiaries will be organized into Women Affinity Groups (WAGs). The model is designed to promote collaboration and inclusion.

Participation is open to women from all backgrounds. Organizers emphasized that religion and ethnicity will not be barriers.

The programme is expected to improve household income. It also aims to enhance the overall quality of life for participants.

Responding, Olowa expressed appreciation for the initiative. He acknowledged the role of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in driving the programme.
