The Lekki Local Council Development Area has carried out a comprehensive fumigation exercise at RCM Primary School, Idotun, as part of efforts to safeguard the health of pupils and staff.
Epe Insights reports that the exercise was conducted by the Environmental Department under the leadership of Mrs Gbemiyi Grace, following a directive from the Executive Chairman, Rasaki Bamidele Kasali.
The intervention was implemented in response to environmental health concerns on the school premises.
Council authorities said swift action was necessary to prevent potential health risks and ensure uninterrupted academic activities.
From the early hours of the morning, environmental officials were on the ground to execute the exercise.
Classrooms, administrative offices, staff rooms, corridors, and the surrounding school environment were thoroughly treated.
The fumigation targeted mosquitoes, rodents, and other harmful pests that could pose threats to children’s health.
Officials ensured that all safety protocols were observed during the process.
According to the council, the initiative reflects its broader commitment to maintaining hygienic and conducive learning environments across schools within the LCDA.
The administration emphasised that children’s welfare remains a top priority.
School authorities welcomed the prompt response, noting that a clean and pest-free environment enhances concentration and overall academic performance among pupils.
Residents in the Idotun community also commended the council’s proactive approach, describing it as a demonstration of responsive and people-focused governance.
Council officials disclosed that the fumigation exercise forms part of a routine environmental health strategy. Similar interventions are expected to continue across other public schools within the LCDA.
The Chairman reiterated that government intervention in matters affecting children’s health must always be timely and decisive. He assured parents and guardians that the council will sustain regular monitoring and sanitation programmes.
