The Sahara Group Foundation, in partnership with Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, has launched the Sahara Go-Recycling Hub as part of its waste-to-wealth initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and economic empowerment.
Epe Insights reports that the recycling hub, located at the Ibeju-Lekki Council Secretariat in Igando-Oloja, allows residents to exchange recyclable materials such as plastics, paper, nylon, and aluminium cans for cash rewards.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, commended Sahara Group Foundation for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful for grassroots development.

Hon. Olowa recalled that environmental sustainability remains one of the core pillars of his administration, particularly during his first term, noting that the partnership aligns with his vision for a cleaner and greener Ibeju-Lekki.
He emphasised that the recycling hub would empower residents to turn waste into a steady source of income, reduce pollution, and strengthen community-driven sustainability efforts across the local government.

The council chairman urged traditional rulers, market women, youths, and residents to embrace the initiative seriously, stressing that it offers an additional and reliable source of livelihood.
Under the programme, residents can bring clean recyclable items to the Sahara Go-Recycling Hub without any registration fee and receive instant cash payments or opt for a digital wallet to save earnings.

The hub operates from Monday to Friday, and participants are free to recycle as often as they wish, encouraging consistent community participation and financial inclusion.

The initiative is expected to boost job creation, support a circular economy, and deepen environmental awareness within Ibeju-Lekki communities.
