The Lagos State Government (LASG) and the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) are set to construct a 132/33kV Injection Substation at Eleko, Ibeju-Lekki, to boost power supply across the axis.
Epe Insights that the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa attended a high-level meeting on the Ibeju-Lekki Power Systems Improvement Project at the Ministry of Energy, Alausa.
The project is facilitated by the Lagos State Ministry of Energy, sponsored by FGN Power Company Limited, and supported by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.

Following the meeting, Hon. Olowa joined the project team on an inspection tour of the Ajah Transmission Station, where officials conducted him around key facilities.
The team later visited the Chairman at his office in Igando Oloja before proceeding to the proposed substation site at Eleko Junction for final inspection.
On completion, the project will deliver a 132/33kV Injection Substation from Ajah to Eleko through a dedicated transmission line in its first phase.

The substation will receive electricity at 132kV from the national grid and step it down to 33kV for efficient regional distribution to communities.
The development is expected to significantly improve power capacity, stabilise electricity supply, and reconnect long-neglected communities in Ibeju-Lekki to the national grid.
Residents are projected to benefit from improved livelihoods, business growth, enhanced healthcare delivery, and better educational services.

Hon. Olowa described the project as a turning point for Ibeju-Lekki, marking a transition from prolonged power challenges to sustainable energy access.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for their commitment to the project.

The Chairman also commended the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Biodun Ogunleye, Special Adviser, Engr. Abiola Olowu and other stakeholders for their support.
