The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has completed a comprehensive clean-up exercise at the Akodo beachfront, restoring the area to a cleaner and safer condition.

Epe Insights reports that the clean-up followed an unscheduled inspection by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who discovered heaps of refuse and illegal dumpsites scattered across the beachfront.

During the visit, the Chairman expressed concern over the poor environmental condition of the area, warning that indiscriminate waste disposal posed serious risks to public health, safety, and the environment.

He immediately directed the deployment of environmental sanitation contractors to clear accumulated waste, evacuate illegal dumpsites, and rehabilitate the beachfront and its surroundings.

The council said the successful exercise reflects its commitment to environmental sustainability, public safety, and the well-being of residents and visitors in Ibeju-Lekki.

Residents and beach users were urged to support government efforts by observing proper waste disposal practices and protecting public spaces from abuse.
