The President of the Yoruba Obas Forum, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Samuel O. Adeoye (JP), Edema I, has called on traditional rulers across Yorubaland to remain devoted to preserving and promoting their ancestral customs and cultural values.
EpeInsights reports that Oba Adeoye praised the enduring efforts of Yoruba monarchs who have upheld traditions passed down through generations at the grand finale of the Eebi Agemo Festival in Ayandelu Kingdom, located within Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA of Epe, Lagos State.
In his address, Oba Adeoye commended the Alayandelu of Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Asunmo Aderibigbe, for his unwavering commitment to Yoruba heritage and cultural leadership.
“Oba Alayandelu has demonstrated true dedication to the essence of our traditions,” he said. “His actions reflect the primary mission of the Yoruba Obas Forum — to ensure our culture and identity are not lost to time.”
The 15-day Eebi Agemo Festival, celebrated for its spiritual significance and promotion of cultural identity, concluded with vibrant masquerade displays, traditional rites, and prayers for unity and prosperity.
The event attracted local dignitaries, cultural enthusiasts, and members of the Ayandelu community.
Also present was Oba Nureni Sikiru Odedina, the Oniladaba of Ladaba Kingdom, who echoed the Forum President’s remarks, emphasizing the responsibility of monarchs in preserving indigenous knowledge and heritage.
“Our traditions are the strength of our people,” Oba Odedina stated. “As custodians of culture, it is our duty to uphold and transmit this legacy.”
The Iyalode of Ayandelu Kingdom added her voice in support, highlighting the Alayandelu’s contributions to peace and cultural pride.
“Our Kabiyesi continues to honor the legacy of our forefathers,” she said.
“We pray for continued peace, growth, and unity in Ayandelu.”
