VIS Seizes 28 Trucks in Lagos for Safety Violations

The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), in a joint operation with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has impounded 28 heavy-duty trucks for violating road safety regulations.

EpeInsights reports that the enforcement exercise targeted trucks operating with critical safety defects, including broken headlamps, faulty rear lights, worn tyres, and incomplete wheel fittings.

According to a statement by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, several drivers were reportedly found without valid driving licences or required recertification cards issued by the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI) in addition to vehicle faults.

Ogunlola noted that the joint inspection is part of routine efforts to improve safety on Lagos roads and ensure compliance with regulations governing commercial and heavy-duty vehicles.

“The goal of this operation is to enhance public safety by ensuring that trucks on our roads meet all safety standards,” she said.

The Ministry has reiterated its commitment to regular checks and strict enforcement to curb accidents linked to vehicle negligence.Lagos State
