In a sustained crackdown on criminal activities and environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit has arrested 74 suspects during a major clean-up and enforcement operation around the Lekki axis.

EpeInsights learnt that the raid, which began at about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, was led by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, and covered high-traffic areas including Lekki Phase 1 and 2, Ikoyi, Falomo Bridge, Law School, Eko Hotel axis, and Oniru Beach.

According to the Agency, the operation was prompted by repeated complaints and distress calls from residents concerning the activities of miscreants, hooligans, and suspected criminals—particularly during early morning hours.

A total of 74 individuals—72 males and 2 females were apprehended during the exercise.

The suspects are expected to be charged to court as part of the State’s zero-tolerance approach to crime and public nuisance.

CSP Akerele emphasized the government’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements and restore public order.Taskforce Arrests 74 Suspects in Early-Morning Raid on Lekki Axis

“Those who choose to undermine the peace and security of our communities must desist or be prepared to face the full weight of the law. We will not relent in our efforts to ensure a safer and cleaner Lagos,” he stated.

He noted that the operation forms part of an ongoing initiative by the Agency to conduct at least two routine enforcement drives each week, targeting known black spots and criminal hideouts across Lagos.

“The Taskforce is committed to safeguarding lives, properties, and the environment. Our goal is to ensure Lagos remains safe and habitable for all residents,” Akerele added.

The Lagos State Taskforce reiterated its resolve to maintain the momentum of the clean-up operations in a bid to enhance safety and improve the quality of life across the metropolis.
