A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Lagos Mainland II, Shabi Rasheed Adebola, has urged youth leaders from Epe Division to build their leadership journey on the foundations of education and cultural values.

Epe Insights reports that the lawmaker gave the advice during a consultative engagement with members of the Federation of Epe Division Students’ Association National Parliamentary Council (FEDNPC), where discussions focused on leadership development and community growth.

The meeting brought together youth parliamentarians representing various communities within Epe Division for dialogue on the role of young leaders in shaping the future of their society.

During the engagement, Hon. Shabi stressed that leadership requires intellectual strength, discipline, and a strong understanding of cultural identity.

He noted that young leaders must remain rooted in the traditions and values that define their communities while pursuing modern education.

“To truly develop our community, we must equip ourselves with the tools of modern knowledge while remaining firmly rooted in the values and traditions that define us,” he said.

The lawmaker emphasized that education should remain a lifelong pursuit for emerging leaders.

According to him, modern governance requires individuals who are knowledgeable, analytical, and prepared to address complex challenges.

He explained that academic excellence provides young leaders with the capacity to think critically and contribute meaningfully to development.

Hon. Shabi also highlighted the importance of cultural heritage in strengthening community identity and unity.

He encouraged the youth parliamentarians to serve as ambassadors of the traditions and values that define Epe Division.

“A leader without a grasp of their culture is like a tree without roots,” the lawmaker stated.

He added that combining cultural pride with academic excellence produces leaders capable of driving meaningful change.

The legislator described the visiting youth parliamentarians as representatives of a new generation of leaders.

He noted that the young leaders have the potential to shape the future of their communities through discipline, knowledge, and visionary thinking.

Participants at the meeting engaged in discussions on leadership responsibilities and strategies for community development.

The dialogue also addressed the role of youth participation in governance and civic engagement.

Hon. Shabi encouraged the students to remain focused on their academic pursuits while contributing positively to society.

He also urged them to remain committed to ethical leadership and responsible decision-making.
