In a heartfelt call for unity and political maturity, Alhaji Anifowoshe Denge urged aspirants and their supporters to approach politics as a platform for service rather than a battlefield of rivalry.

EpeInsights reports that he made this appeal during the 8th-Day Fidau Prayer held in honour of the late Alhaji Sanuth at the Ogunmodede Club in Epe, Lagos.

Denge reflected on the essence of leadership and the need for aspirants to respect the outcome of elections.

“The purpose of political ambition is to serve the people,” Denge said. “Even if 30 people contest for a position, only one will emerge victorious. That should not make enemies of the rest. Instead, they should support the winner for the greater good of the community.”

He expressed concern over the growing hostility often seen in the political landscape, warning that such enmity threatens the very foundation of democratic progress and communal harmony.

“Politics is not war,” he continued. “It is not a matter of life and death. Our community and humanity outlast any election cycle. We must choose unity over division.”

Denge emphasized that true leadership is measured by service, not victory, and praised the late Alhaji Sanuth for living a life that exemplified peace, wisdom, and dedication to community development.

He further encouraged individuals to adopt a more active role in shaping their communities—beyond politics—by embracing civic duties, supporting one another, and promoting peace at the grassroots level.

The Fidau prayer was attended by a large gathering of family, friends, religious leaders and political figures, all paying their respects to a man remembered not just for his leadership, but for his character.“Politics Should Unite, Not Divide Us” — Alhaji Anifowoshe Denge Calls for Peace

As the prayers concluded, Alhaji Sanuth’s legacy of peace and community spirit echoed in the words of Denge—a timely reminder that leadership is not just about holding office, but about bringing people together.
