Operatives of the Nigerian Navy have arrested 27 individuals for drug trafficking in Lagos, including three women and 24 men.
EpeInsights learnt that the spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to Ibrahim, the Navy conducted a well-coordinated operation that targeted a known criminal hideout in Gidan Drama, located on Malu Road in Apapa. The raid was carried out on Saturday, April 5, 2025, following reliable intelligence about drug trafficking activities in the area.
“The operation was initiated after receiving credible information about suspected drug peddlers operating in Gidan Drama. This led to the deployment of Operation MESA by personnel of NNS BEECROFT,” Ibrahim explained.
During the operation, the Navy apprehended 27 suspects, seizing hard drugs and other illicit substances.
“The successful capture of these 27 individuals and the seizure of illegal substances reflects NNS BEECROFT’s ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking, which poses a significant threat to the health of our youth and the security of the nation,” Ibrahim added.
The suspects, along with the seized drugs, were handed over to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and action.
