As part of its efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure better services for enrollees of the Lagos State Health Scheme, the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has hosted its Q1 2025 Healthcare Providers Engagement Forum.
EpeInsights gathered that the three-day forum, held at the agency’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, brought together healthcare providers under the ILERA EKO scheme to review performance, address challenges, and chart a path toward improved service delivery.
Welcoming participants, the Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, commended providers for their ongoing partnership and dedication to delivering quality care. She emphasized that the success of the scheme—and Lagos State’s journey towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC)—depends on the active participation of all stakeholders.

“Your contributions to advancing UHC in Lagos State will be remembered as part of a legacy of excellence in healthcare,” Dr. Zamba said. “Together, we are building a stronger, more efficient, and sustainable healthcare system.”
She urged providers to continuously improve service delivery for ILERA EKO enrollees and called on facilities yet to establish dedicated pathways for enrollees to do so immediately. This, she noted, would reduce wait times and improve access to care.
To enhance enrolment, LASHMA has trained healthcare providers through its newly launched ILERA EKO Academy, making them provider-led enrolment centers. Residents are encouraged to visit any of the participating providers to sign up for the scheme.
Dr. Zamba also reminded providers that they serve as ILERA EKO ambassadors. She stressed the importance of professionalism and warned against spreading misinformation about the health insurance plan. To ensure compliance, the agency has instituted a Consequence Management Policy (CMP), with sanctions in place for violations.
In a push for transparency and improved service standards, LASHMA will soon roll out the ILERA EKO Service Charter across provider facilities. This initiative aims to standardize service, enhance customer experience, and boost enrolment numbers.
Additionally, Dr. Zamba announced a new partnership with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), which will see the deployment of card readers in healthcare facilities. The devices—currently being piloted—will streamline enrollee verification, reduce wait times, and curb impersonation.
Key LASHMA officials at the event included Compliance and Enforcement Manager, Mrs. Tosin Adeosun; Care Manager, Dr. Temitope Olukinni; Supply and Logistics Officer, Pharm. Tolase Adeoluwa; Head of Business Development, Mr. Rotimi Olatunji; Quality Team Lead, Miss Olawunmi Akinsanmi; and Head of ICT, Mr. Sefiu Oladejo.
