Lekki Local Council Development Area has called for stronger community participation in safeguarding schools through timely reporting of suspicious activities and security concerns.
Epe Insights reports that the council emphasized that the safety of children remains a shared responsibility among parents, school administrators, teachers, students, and community stakeholders.
According to the advisory, residents are encouraged to make use of the emergency response channels provided by the Nigeria Police Force Schools Protection Squad (SPS).
The SPS operates a 24-hour Command and Control Centre designed to respond swiftly to security threats affecting schools across the country.
Authorities noted that the system is specifically structured to address incidents such as attacks on schools, abductions, bullying, harassment, and suspicious movements around school environments.
Members of the public were urged to report any unusual activity that could pose a risk to students or educational institutions without delay.
The advisory further stressed the importance of vigilance within school communities, especially in identifying early warning signs of potential security threats.
Parents and guardians were encouraged to maintain close communication with school authorities to ensure continuous monitoring of student safety.
School administrators were also advised to strengthen internal security measures and maintain collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
The Lekki LCDA administration, under Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of all residents, particularly school children.
It stated that proactive reporting and community awareness remain key components in preventing security breaches around educational facilities.
The council highlighted that effective collaboration between residents and security agencies is essential in maintaining a safe learning environment.
Epe Insights notes that the initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance security architecture across communities within the LCDA.

Officials stressed that timely reporting of suspicious behaviour can significantly reduce risks and enable faster response from security operatives.
The advisory also encouraged community leaders and youth groups to support awareness campaigns on school safety practices.
Authorities reiterated that no security concern is too small to report, as early intervention can prevent escalation into serious incidents.
The council assured residents that it will continue working closely with relevant security agencies to strengthen protection mechanisms around schools.
As part of ongoing efforts, stakeholders were urged to remain alert and actively contribute to maintaining safe educational environments across Lekki LCDA.
