Lekki Local Council Development Area has marked the 2026 edition of World Malaria Day with a large-scale medical outreach in Akodo-Ise, targeting communities with high malaria prevalence.

Epe Insights reports that the outreach, themed “United Against Malaria,” was designed as a direct health intervention to address malaria cases while improving access to essential healthcare services for residents.

The programme recorded strong turnout, with over 350 beneficiaries receiving free medical services across multiple healthcare units.

Services provided included vital checks, blood pressure screening, laboratory tests such as RBS, RVS, HBsAg, and RDT, as well as consultations, eye examinations, and dental care.

Residents also benefited from pharmacy services, family planning support, and tuberculosis screening during the comprehensive outreach.

Health officials used the platform to deliver detailed sensitisation on malaria prevention, symptoms, and treatment.

The awareness session focused on equipping residents with practical knowledge to reduce exposure to mosquito bites and improve early detection of the disease.

Representing the council chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, the Secretary to the Local Government, Bukola Lawal, addressed the community on the importance of sustained healthcare engagement.

She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to reducing malaria burden through continuous outreach programmes and accessible primary healthcare services.

Residents were encouraged to make use of the Primary Health Centre in Akodo-Ise for ongoing medical support and preventive care.

The outreach attracted key stakeholders, including representatives from the World Health Organization and Lagos State health authorities.

Notable participants included Ngozi Onyejiaka and Adenike Oguntuase, alongside council officials and supervisors.
