Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is encouraging young men and women across the state to seize the opportunity to enlist in the Nigerian Army as recruitment for the 89 Regular Recruits Intake continues.

EpeInsights gathered that the Governor emphasized the wealth of opportunities available within the military, highlighting how today’s army offers much more than just service on the battlefield.

According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the Governor announced that registration for the intake of Trades and Non-Tradesmen/Women will close on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Speaking to the gathering, which included parents, youths, and traditional leaders, Salu-Hundeyin shared the Governor’s message, urging everyone to reconsider their perceptions of military careers.

“It’s time for all stakeholders to rethink their views of military service. The Nigerian Army today offers vast opportunities beyond the battlefield—ranging from technology to education and career advancement,” he stated on behalf of the Governor.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated that enlisting in the military not only offers a chance to serve the country but also provides access to professional training in fields such as medicine, aeronautics, and law. He assured that Lagos State is committed to supporting eligible candidates from the state who wish to pursue a career in the armed forces.

At the event, the Olofin of Isheri Olofin, Olasunkanmi Lawal-Bello, praised the initiative, aligning with the THEMES+ Agenda that focuses on youth empowerment, education, and healthcare. He also pledged to mobilize young people within his domain to participate in the recruitment drive.

“I commend Governor Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment. His focus on education and healthcare is something I fully support and will continue to advocate for,” the monarch said.
