The Lekki Local Council Development Area has carried out its statewide Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, extending clean-up operations across major roads, industrial corridors, and residential communities within the council.
Epe Insights reports that the exercise covered key locations including the Lekki Free Zone, Dangote Refinery axis, Osoroko, Lekki Town, Apakin, Idasho, Idotun, Lekuru, Imobido, Okunraye, Olomowewe, and Folu, as part of efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
The sanitation exercise was led by Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), alongside council executives, councillors, supervisors, special advisers, security personnel, and environmental officers.
Also present were PSP operators, sanitation workers, departmental heads, and other stakeholders who actively participated in clearing waste and enforcing environmental compliance across the LCDA.

The council leadership emphasized that environmental cleanliness remains a shared responsibility between government and residents, urging consistent participation from all communities.
Residents and traders along the sanitation routes were engaged directly on the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and proper waste disposal practices.
According to the council, the exercise is part of a structured monthly initiative designed to strengthen environmental hygiene and prevent health risks associated with poor sanitation.
Engr. Kasali reiterated that cleanliness is not a one-time activity but a continuous culture that must be embraced by all residents across Lekki LCDA.

He also stressed that enforcement measures will accompany future sanitation exercises to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
The exercise recorded active participation from both public and private stakeholders, reflecting growing collaboration in maintaining environmental standards within the area.
Communities such as Osoroko, Idasho, and Lekki Town witnessed large-scale clean-up operations, including drainage clearing and waste evacuation.
The council noted that industrial zones like the Lekki Free Zone and Dangote Refinery axis require sustained environmental monitoring due to their high activity levels.

Security agencies supported the operation to ensure order and smooth execution of the sanitation exercise across all locations.
Residents expressed mixed reactions, with many commending the initiative while calling for more frequent waste collection services in some areas.
Council officials assured that sanitation efforts will be sustained monthly to improve public health and environmental safety.
The leadership described the initiative as part of broader efforts to build a cleaner, safer, and more livable environment for residents and businesses.

Stakeholders emphasized that long-term environmental improvement depends on consistent public cooperation and responsible waste management practices.
The exercise reinforces Lekki LCDA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and proactive governance at the grassroots level.
As cleanup activities continue across Lagos, Lekki LCDA’s approach highlights the importance of leadership-driven environmental action.
