The Supervisor for Markets and Revenue in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Ahmed Ajibola Elemoro, has led a comprehensive sensitization and enumeration exercise aimed at boosting internally generated revenue and improving business documentation.
Epe Insights reports that the exercise focused on educating traders and shop owners on the importance of revenue compliance, while also capturing data through the enumeration and registration of businesses across the area.
The initiative was carried out under the administration of Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, with revenue officers accompanying the supervisor to ensure effective coordination and engagement with market stakeholders.
During the outreach, traders were sensitized on their civic responsibilities and the need to comply with local government revenue laws. Officials emphasized that voluntary compliance is key to sustainable development.
The exercise extended into the evening hours, reflecting the council’s commitment to reaching a wide range of business operators and ensuring inclusivity in the process.
Hon. Elemoro noted that strengthening the revenue base is essential for improved service delivery, including infrastructure development and community services within the local government.
