The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has been honoured with a doctorate degree by Smart Island University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in recognition of her outstanding contributions to humanitarian causes and diaspora development.
EpeInsights reports that the honorary degree was conferred by the Registrar of the institution, Dr. Mohammed Dhaidan Al-Mutairi, who praised Dabiri-Erewa’s unwavering commitment, diligence, and pioneering efforts in advancing the interests of Nigerians in the diaspora.
Dr. Al-Mutairi noted that the university currently hosts nearly 90 Nigerian students enrolled in various academic programmes, and commended the NiDCOM boss for her enduring dedication to strengthening diaspora relations and promoting humanitarian values.
He also revealed the university’s interest in expanding its footprint to Nigeria by exploring the possibility of establishing a campus in the country—an initiative he said would further solidify bilateral educational and cultural ties.
In her acceptance remarks, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa expressed deep appreciation to Smart Island University for the honour, describing the recognition as a motivation to do even more in service to Nigerians at home and abroad.
She also acknowledged the efforts of the Association of Nigerians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their continuous engagement and for promoting a positive image of Nigeria.
