The Epe community has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of its respected elders, Chief Akilu Olabode Sanuth, popularly known as Alakiyaye.
EpeInsights reports that he passed away a few hours ago at age 71.
Born on December 5, 1953, to the late Chief Shittu Ibatu Sanuth, the first Baba Adeen of the Epe Central Mosque, Oke Balogun — Chief Sanuth hailed from the esteemed Seriki Odibo royal family of Epe.
He received his early education at Ansar-Ur-Deen Modern School before proceeding to Epe Grammar School.
Following his education, he dedicated 35 years of exemplary service to the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission before retiring meritoriously.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Chief Sanuth ventured into the distribution of newspapers, becoming the major distributor of Nigerian dailies in Epe Central, further cementing his reputation as a hardworking and committed member of the community.
Chief Sanuth was a devoted family man, married to two wives, Alhaja R. O. Sanuth and Mrs. Khadijat Sanuth.
He is survived by nine children — Yusuf, Haroun, Azeez, Rasheed, Rasheedah (née Sanuth), Luqman, Aliyu, Nosiru, and Mumeenat, all of whom have continued his legacy of diligence and community service.
Chief Sanuth who was described as a compassionate father, an accommodating leader and a cheerful giver, as his life touched many within and beyond his family circle.
Prayers have been offered for the repose of his soul, with many invoking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him a place among the righteous in Aljanat Firdaus.
