The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Akogun Wale Anomo, has congratulated residents and Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.
Epe Insights reports that the council chairman described June 12 as a significant date in Nigeria’s history, symbolising the resilience, courage, and determination of citizens in the pursuit of democratic governance.
Anomo paid tribute to the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and other democratic heroes whose sacrifices contributed to the nation’s democratic development.
He noted that Democracy Day serves as a reminder of the need to uphold the principles of justice, accountability, equity, and inclusive governance.
According to the chairman, democracy remains a vital instrument for national growth because it allows citizens to participate in decision-making and contribute to societal progress.
He stated that despite existing challenges, Nigeria has continued to record progress through the resilience and commitment of its people.
Anomo also commended the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the economy and creating opportunities for citizens.
He expressed optimism that the administration’s policy direction would continue to deliver sustainable growth and development across the country.
The chairman further acknowledged the contributions of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
He noted that the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda has driven significant investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, transportation, technology, and security across Lagos State.
Anomo stated that the impact of these initiatives has been felt in communities across the state, including areas within Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

At the grassroots level, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-centred governance.
He assured residents that the council would continue implementing projects and policies aimed at improving welfare and promoting sustainable development.
The chairman urged citizens to remain committed to national unity, peaceful coexistence, and active civic participation.
He emphasized the importance of supporting democratic institutions and protecting the values that strengthen the nation.
