The All Progressives Congress (APC) has presented Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination forms to its candidates for the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly election, confirming that 12 serving lawmakers will not return on the party’s platform.

Epe Insights reports that the presentation of the nomination forms comes amid growing concerns within the Lagos APC following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections and the emergence of candidates for the 2027 legislative contest.

The latest development has sparked fresh political discussions across Lagos State, with several aspirants expressing dissatisfaction over the outcome of the APC primaries.

Some aggrieved aspirants have alleged that candidates who initially emerged victorious during the primary elections were later replaced before the final list of party candidates was released.

The claims have generated protests in parts of the state, with party members calling on the APC leadership to address the concerns raised by dissatisfied aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Political observers believe the situation has become one of the most significant internal challenges facing the party as preparations for the elections gather momentum.

Among the notable lawmakers who did not secure the APC ticket is the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Noheem Adams.

The party also did not return the Chief Whip, Hon. Fatai Mojeed, and the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Setonji David, as candidates for the forthcoming election.

Surulere Constituency I lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, is also among the serving legislators who will not be seeking another term on the APC platform.

Other lawmakers excluded from the party’s list include Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, who represents Ikorodu Constituency I, and Hon. Lanre Afini of Lagos Island Constituency I.

Hon. Stephen Ogundipe of Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I and Hon. Obafemi Saheed of Kosofe Constituency II also did not secure the party’s nomination.

The list further includes Hon. Bonu Solomon of Badagry Constituency II and Hon. Emmanuel Oloto of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II.

Hon. Jubreel Abdulkareem, representing Agege Constituency II, and Hon. Apata Samuel of Somolu Constituency II are also among those left out of the APC’s list of candidates.

The exclusion of 12 sitting lawmakers represents one of the most significant political changes within the Lagos State House of Assembly in recent years.

The development is expected to reshape the composition of the Assembly if the APC retains its dominant position in the state during the 2027 elections.

Political analysts say changes of this magnitude often signal a strategic effort by political parties to introduce new faces while maintaining electoral competitiveness.

However, internal disagreements arising from candidate selection processes can also influence party cohesion if not effectively managed before the general election.

Several party members have urged the APC leadership to strengthen internal reconciliation efforts and promote unity among stakeholders across Lagos State.

They believe resolving outstanding concerns will help reinforce confidence among party members and support preparations for the forthcoming elections.

Meanwhile, the APC has continued with its preparations for the 2027 polls, including the presentation of INEC nomination forms to candidates who successfully emerged through the party’s selection process.

Across Lagos State, political activities are expected to intensify as candidates begin wider consultations with party supporters, community leaders and residents ahead of the official campaign period.

The presentation of the nomination forms marks another important milestone in the electoral process as political parties position themselves for the next round of legislative elections.

With new candidates now emerging in several constituencies, residents across Lagos will closely monitor developments as the race for seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
