The Epe Local Government and Rotary International have successfully concluded the Rotary Health Mission and Menstrual Care Project III, bringing free healthcare services to hundreds of residents at the Primary Health Care Centre (Papa PHC), Papa, Epe.
Epe Insights reports that the outreach provided essential medical services, including consultations, surgeries, eye care, laboratory tests, medications and menstrual hygiene support, as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for residents.
The health mission attracted people from different communities across Epe who visited the Primary Health Care Centre to receive professional medical attention without financial burden. The initiative was designed to ensure that more residents have access to timely healthcare services.
Medical professionals conducted free consultations for patients with various health concerns. Residents received medical assessments, health advice and referrals where further treatment was required.
The outreach also featured free surgical procedures for selected patients. Qualified healthcare personnel carried out the procedures under safe medical conditions to improve the health and well-being of beneficiaries.
Eye care services formed another major aspect of the programme. Beneficiaries underwent vision screening and received professional eye examinations aimed at detecting and managing common eye conditions.
Laboratory tests were equally provided to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. The screening helped medical teams identify health issues and recommend appropriate medical care for patients.
Residents also received free medications prescribed by healthcare professionals. The distribution of essential medicines ensured that beneficiaries could begin treatment immediately after their consultations.
A key component of the programme was the Menstrual Care Project III, which focused on promoting menstrual hygiene awareness among girls and women within the community.
Participants received menstrual hygiene education and support materials to encourage healthy practices and improve awareness about menstrual health management.
The initiative highlighted the importance of breaking barriers surrounding menstrual health while ensuring that women and girls have access to basic hygiene resources.
Speaking during the programme, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the local government area.
She noted that quality healthcare remains one of the key priorities of her administration. According to her, strategic partnerships with reputable organisations continue to strengthen healthcare services available to residents.

Hon. Animashaun commended Rotary International for partnering with the Council to deliver another successful medical outreach that directly benefited members of the community.
She described the collaboration as an example of how government and development partners can work together to improve public health and support vulnerable residents.
The Chairman expressed appreciation to the healthcare professionals, volunteers and organisers whose dedication contributed to the success of the programme.
She also acknowledged the efforts of Rotary International for its continued investment in humanitarian projects that positively impact lives across communities.
Residents who benefited from the outreach expressed gratitude for the opportunity to receive free medical services. Many described the programme as timely and helpful, especially for families who may not easily afford healthcare expenses.
Community leaders also praised the initiative, noting that regular medical outreach programmes help improve public health while encouraging residents to seek early medical attention.

Health experts have consistently emphasised that preventive healthcare, routine screening and public awareness campaigns play a vital role in reducing the burden of disease within communities.
The successful completion of the Rotary Health Mission and Menstrual Care Project III further demonstrates the value of partnerships between local governments and humanitarian organisations in expanding access to healthcare.
As Epe Local Government continues to strengthen healthcare delivery through collaboration, residents remain hopeful that similar outreach programmes will be organised regularly to improve health outcomes and ensure that more people benefit from quality medical services across the local government area.
