The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, presented the championship trophy to Team Brazil, winners of the E1 Lagos Grand Prix (GP) Championship, during a colourful and action-packed grand finale held in Victoria Island, Lagos.

EpeInsights reports that the electrifying event, which marked the climax of the international water-based electric boat racing series, drew participants, sports enthusiasts, and dignitaries from across the globe, reaffirming Lagos State’s position as a leading destination for sports tourism and innovation.

In one of the highlights of the day, Governor Sanwo-Olu personally presented the coveted trophy to Team Brazil, who clinched victory after a fiercely contested final round on the Lagos waterfront.

The Governor also congratulated Team Drogba Global Africa, who emerged first runners-up, for their impressive performance and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the organisers and partners of the E1 Championship for showcasing Lagos as a global hub for sustainable sports and marine innovation. He noted that the competition aligns with the State Government’s vision to promote tourism, clean energy, and youth engagement under the #AGreaterLagosRising agenda.

The event also featured top dignitaries, including the Managing Director/CEO of First Bank, Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, and the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Afreximbank, Prof. Benedict Oramah, among other corporate and government leaders.

The grand finale concluded with jubilant scenes as the winners and participants celebrated their achievements amidst cheers and fireworks, adding vibrancy to Lagos’ growing reputation as Africa’s entertainment and sports capital.
