Rep. Wale Raji Inspects Agbowa Stadium, Mowowale Market

The Member of the House of Representatives representing Epe Federal Constituency, Rep. Tasir Olawale Raji, has announced plans for the imminent commissioning of the Agbowa Mini Stadium and Recreational Centre, alongside efforts to repair and commission the Mowowale Market.

Epe Insights reports that Raji made the announcement during an inspection of both projects, where he outlined additional infrastructure plans to improve the stadium’s security, expand its facilities and enhance its use by residents of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.

The lawmaker disclosed plans to fence the entire stadium complex and construct an additional pavilion. He said the proposed improvements would be captured in the 2027 budget.

Raji expressed concern over repeated vandalism at the stadium, describing the damage as significant. Despite the challenges, he commended the contractor for remaining committed to the project despite the financial losses and setbacks.

He reaffirmed his intention to ensure that the facility is commissioned as soon as possible. He also directed the contractor to submit cost estimates for the proposed fencing and additional structures.

According to the lawmaker, the planned improvements would help secure the facility and support its long-term use. The additional pavilion is also expected to provide more space for activities once the project is completed.

Raji urged the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area to maximise the opportunities presented by the stadium after commissioning. He said young people, schools and community groups could use the facility for sporting, recreational and social activities.

He further suggested that the council could organise suitable commercial programmes at the venue to support its effective management and maintenance.

The lawmaker explained that the formal commissioning and handover would be coordinated with the Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Dr. Akogun Wale Anomo, subject to his availability.

During the inspection, Raji also visited the Mowowale Market, another project facilitated through his constituency interventions.

He recalled that the market had suffered vandalism several weeks earlier and assured residents that the damaged sections would be repaired before the proposed commissioning.

The market comprises 120 shops, which Raji said would be allocated to beneficiaries free of charge. He described the provision as part of the dividends of democracy being delivered through his representation at the federal level.

The lawmaker expressed hope that the stadium and market could be commissioned together, allowing residents to benefit from both infrastructure projects.

Providing updates on other constituency initiatives, Raji announced an upcoming intervention for Otta-Ikosi. He said details of the project would be disclosed when he arrives in the community.

He indicated that the intervention was expected to take place soon, raising expectations among residents awaiting further information about the planned project.

Raji also highlighted education-related projects across Epe Federal Constituency, stating that seven new schools had been established in previously underserved communities.

He added that 181 classrooms, equipped with furniture, had been provided across the constituency as part of efforts to improve access to learning facilities.

On market development, the lawmaker said projects at Mowowale and Itokin formed part of a wider intervention expected to deliver 840 shops free of charge to beneficiaries.

The planned distribution is intended to provide traders with access to business spaces and support commercial activities in the benefiting communities.

Raji also disclosed that solar-powered streetlight installations were ongoing across all 19 wards in Epe Federal Constituency. The installations are intended to improve public lighting and support safer movement within communities after dark.

The projects outlined during the inspection cover recreation, commerce, education and community infrastructure. Their completion and effective management will be important to ensuring that residents receive the intended benefits.

The lawmaker’s visit also brought attention to the need to protect public facilities against vandalism and ensure that completed projects remain available for community use.

As residents await the commissioning of the Agbowa Mini Stadium and Mowowale Market, Raji reiterated his commitment to completing the projects and advancing further interventions across Epe Federal Constituency.
