The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Engr.) Abiola Okanlawon Olowu, has attended a stakeholders’ meeting to review plans for the Ajah–Sapati (Eleko) 132kV double-circuit transmission line project.
Epe Insights reports that the meeting was held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat and hosted by the council chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa.
The meeting was convened by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in collaboration with Ibeju-Lekki Local Government to review the project’s implementation plan and consider alternative transmission routes.
The discussions focused on identifying suitable routes that could reduce disruption to communities while supporting the development of electricity transmission infrastructure across the Ibeju-Lekki corridor.
Olowu, popularly known as OKL, FNSE, joined other dignitaries, stakeholders and community representatives at the meeting.
His participation brought attention to the importance of community engagement in planning major infrastructure projects, particularly those that may affect residents, businesses and the surrounding environment.

The Ajah–Sapati (Eleko) transmission line project is intended to strengthen electricity transmission infrastructure in the area. Its successful implementation could support wider efforts to improve power delivery within Ibeju-Lekki and neighbouring communities.
During the review, stakeholders considered the need to accommodate alternative routes as part of the project’s implementation planning.
Route selection is an important aspect of transmission line development because it can influence land use, community access, environmental considerations and the impact on existing settlements.
Consultations with local authorities and community representatives can help identify concerns early and inform decisions about the project’s execution.
As a constituency-level political stakeholder with an engineering background, Olowu’s attendance reflected his involvement in discussions concerning infrastructure development in Ibeju-Lekki.
The meeting also highlighted the role of cooperation between federal infrastructure agencies and local government authorities in coordinating projects that extend across communities.
Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Chairman Abdullahi Sesan Olowa hosted the engagement as stakeholders reviewed the implementation plan and considered issues relating to the transmission line’s route.

The participation of community leaders and residents provided an opportunity for local concerns to form part of the discussions surrounding the project.
Reliable electricity transmission infrastructure is important for households, commercial activities, industrial operations and public services.
In a developing area such as Ibeju-Lekki, improvements to the transmission network could support economic activity and meet the electricity needs of expanding communities.
However, the anticipated benefits will depend on the project’s implementation, technical delivery and the resolution of relevant route-related concerns.
The review meeting therefore served as a platform for stakeholders to examine the proposed arrangements and discuss possible ways to facilitate implementation while considering community interests.
Olowu’s participation further placed the proposed transmission line project within ongoing conversations about infrastructure and development in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I.
The engagement underscored the importance of sustained dialogue among TCN, local government officials, community leaders and other stakeholders as the project progresses.
Further technical assessments and decisions on alternative routes will be important in determining the project’s implementation pathway.
The Ajah–Sapati (Eleko) 132kV transmission line remains a significant infrastructure proposal for the area, with stakeholders looking to its planned development to strengthen electricity transmission capacity.
