The Maureen Idehen Ovabor Foundation has commenced the distribution of welcome-back packs to learners in schools across Alimosho, Lagos, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting children and promoting their wellbeing.
The latest beneficiaries of the initiative were students who participated in the recently concluded 2nd Edition of the Bosede Idehen 5-A-Side Football Competition. Winners from Josab School and God’s Merit School were invited to the premises of Bosede Idehen International Academy, where they received their welcome-back packs.
The presentation formed part of activities by the foundation to celebrate and encourage young learners following the successful completion of the football competition.

The packs were distributed by the Foundation Coordinator, Mr Aluko Theophilus, alongside the Bosede Idehen International Academy school coach, who participated in the presentation to the student beneficiaries.
The initiative underscores the foundation’s growing interest in using educational, sporting and community-based programmes to positively impact young people. The football competition, which brought together learners from different schools, provided an avenue for students to demonstrate their sporting abilities while promoting teamwork, discipline and healthy competition.
Speaking on the foundation’s plans, the organisation said it remains committed to doing more for learners across Lagos State. According to the foundation, the welcome-back pack initiative is only one aspect of a broader commitment to supporting children and communities.
The foundation also disclosed that it intends to pursue other areas of intervention it has identified as part of its proposed programmes, with the aim of reaching more learners and contributing positively to their educational and personal development.
The founder of the foundation, Mrs Maureen Idehen Ovabor, a pharmacist based in the United States, reaffirmed her commitment to humanitarian service.
Speaking with the media, Mrs Idehen Ovabor said she was prepared to continue doing more for humanity and expressed her hope that God would give her the strength and wisdom to sustain the commitment.
She noted that the foundation’s work is driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people, particularly young learners who can benefit from support and opportunities.
The distribution of the welcome-back packs comes at a time when schools are settling into a new academic period, providing an additional gesture of encouragement to the students who took part in the football competition.
The beneficiaries from Josab School and God’s Merit School expressed appreciation for the gesture, while the foundation reiterated that its activities would continue beyond the football competition.
The Maureen Idehen Ovabor Foundation is expected to expand its community initiatives in the coming period as it works towards its stated objective of supporting learners and contributing to humanitarian development across Lagos State.
The foundation’s latest intervention also demonstrates how sporting activities can serve as a platform for broader community engagement, bringing schools, learners, coaches and charitable organisations together around initiatives that encourage participation, achievement and positive development.
