The newly inaugurated executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have paid a courtesy visit to the Aladeshoyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, to seek royal blessings and promote unity within the party.
Epe Insights reports that the visit came shortly after the swearing-in of the new Local Government and Ward Executive Committees at the APC Secretariat in Eredo LCDA. The delegation was led by the newly inaugurated APC Chairman in Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Abiodun, alongside party leaders, stakeholders and supporters.
The visit underscored the longstanding relationship between traditional institutions and political stakeholders in promoting peace and development at the grassroots.
Members of the delegation expressed appreciation to the royal father for his consistent support for peace, dialogue and community development within Eredo LCDA.
The APC executives said the courtesy visit was an opportunity to receive royal blessings as they begin their responsibilities of strengthening the party ahead of future political activities.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to working together to promote unity and progress across the council area.
Speaking during the visit, APC chieftain Hon. Johnbull provided an account of events surrounding the emergence of the newly inaugurated executive committee.
He alleged that the executive list initially agreed upon and endorsed by APC leaders in Eredo LCDA, including the APC Divisional Leader, Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu, was altered before the final announcement.
According to him, party stakeholders became concerned after discovering the alleged changes and immediately reported the matter to the APC State Secretariat.
He explained that formal complaints were submitted to the party leadership, requesting clarification over the alleged alterations.
Hon. Johnbull stated that, at the time of the visit, no official response had been received from the APC State leadership regarding the petitions.
He appealed to the party leadership to resolve the matter through fairness, transparency and respect for agreements previously reached by stakeholders.
The APC chieftain stressed that unity remains essential for the continued growth and success of the party in Eredo LCDA.
Responding to the concerns, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, disclosed that he had consulted with other traditional rulers within Eredo LCDA after receiving complaints from party leaders.
The monarch explained that the consultations were aimed at preserving peace, stability and mutual understanding among political stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Oba Ogunlaja stated that the royal fathers support the executive list that was originally agreed upon and endorsed by APC leaders in Eredo LCDA, including the Divisional Leader, Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu.
He emphasised the importance of dialogue, unity and reconciliation, urging party members to avoid actions capable of creating unnecessary divisions.
The royal father advised all stakeholders to embrace peaceful engagement and place the collective interest of Eredo LCDA above personal considerations.
He expressed confidence that internal disagreements could be resolved through constructive dialogue and adherence to the party’s established processes.
Party leaders present during the visit commended the monarch for his fatherly role and commitment to promoting peace within the community.
