The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to secure victory in the forthcoming councillorship by-election in Orimedu Ward C1, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.

Epe Insights reports that party faithful, community leaders, and residents gathered in large numbers to declare support for APC candidate, Hon. Rufai Kafayat Abosede, ahead of the by-election scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

The by-election was necessitated by the death of the councillor elected during the last local government election, creating a vacancy in the ward.

Addressing party supporters at the campaign rally, APC Chairman in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Eletu, formally presented Hon. Rufai as the party’s candidate.

Eletu explained that her emergence followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders across the local government.

According to him, the decision was influenced by the contributions and sacrifices of her late mother, who played a significant role in the growth and success of the APC in Ibeju-Lekki.

He disclosed that the nomination received the endorsement of party leader, His Excellency Bode Oyedele, alongside other key stakeholders within the party.

The APC chairman described the choice of Hon. Rufai as a continuation of a legacy of service, commitment, and loyalty to the party.

He urged party members and supporters to remain united and mobilize voters across the ward to ensure victory at the polls.

Also speaking at the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman of Conference 57, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, pledged his full support for the APC candidate.

Olowa described the late councillor as one of the party’s strongest pillars in the local government, noting that her dedication and commitment earned widespread respect.

He commended APC leaders and stakeholders for demonstrating unity and political maturity in selecting Hon. Rufai as the party’s flagbearer.

According to the council chairman, the by-election represents more than the process of filling a vacant seat.

He stated that the outcome of the election would serve as an important measure of the party’s strength and preparedness ahead of future electoral contests.

Olowa urged party supporters to remain focused and work collectively to deliver a convincing victory for the APC candidate.

He emphasized that a strong performance in the by-election would reinforce the party’s dominance within the ward and local government.

The rally gained further momentum when the chairman announced a special incentive aimed at encouraging voter mobilization.

Olowa pledged a financial reward of Two Million Naira to any political zone that records more than 3,000 votes during the by-election.

The announcement was greeted with excitement and applause from party supporters, who described it as a morale booster ahead of the election.

Party leaders at the event reiterated the importance of grassroots participation and voter turnout in determining the success of the APC candidate.
