Olowa Unveils Security Strategy, Strengthens Partnership with Traditional Rulers

Epe Insights reports that the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the council area through strategic investments, stakeholder collaboration, and proactive community-based initiatives.

The Chairman made this known during a security engagement with the Ibeju-Lekki Council of Obas and Chiefs, where discussions focused on sustaining peace, protecting lives and property, and addressing emerging security concerns.

Hon. Olowa used the meeting to provide traditional rulers with updates on security developments at the federal, state, and local levels.

He highlighted ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and Lagos State Government to strengthen security architecture while outlining measures being implemented within Ibeju-Lekki.

The Chairman emphasized that security remains a top priority of his administration, particularly as the local government continues to experience rapid population growth and economic expansion.

According to him, maintaining a safe environment is essential to supporting development, attracting investment, and improving residents’ quality of life.

Among the key achievements highlighted was the deployment of 71 security personnel to 28 public primary schools under the Ibeju-Lekki School Security Programme.

Olowa explained that the initiative was introduced to enhance safety within school environments and provide additional protection for pupils, teachers, and educational facilities.

He also revealed that the local government facilitated the upgrade of the Eleko Beach Police Post to a full-fledged Police Division.

The Chairman noted that the council further demonstrated its support for security agencies through the donation of a patrol vehicle and continued assistance for patrol operations within the area.

Looking ahead, Hon. Olowa announced plans to establish a dedicated Police Task Force for School Monitoring under Area J Command.

He stated that the initiative would strengthen surveillance around schools and improve response mechanisms to potential threats.

The Chairman also disclosed plans to reinforce the Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps through the establishment of Ward Vigilante Structures and Forest Guards.

According to him, the initiative aligns with broader efforts to deepen grassroots security and improve intelligence gathering across communities.

Beyond security enforcement, Olowa stressed the importance of addressing social factors that contribute to insecurity.

He announced the forthcoming launch of the Ibeju-Lekki Career Accelerator Programme, which is expected to provide training and development opportunities for over 1,000 young people.

The programme will be implemented through partnerships with Genzaar, African Fintech Foundry, GIZ, and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The Chairman explained that youth empowerment, skills development, and employment creation remain critical tools for promoting long-term peace and stability.

He further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to anti-drug abuse campaigns, anti-cultism advocacy, public safety enforcement, and educational development.
