 The Ibeju-Lekki Council of Obas and Chiefs has held a strategic security engagement with the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, to review ongoing security efforts and strengthen collaboration across the council area.

Epe Insights reports that the meeting brought together traditional rulers and government representatives to discuss practical measures aimed at sustaining peace, public safety, and community stability in Ibeju-Lekki.

During the engagement, the Chairman briefed the royal fathers on current security developments at the national and state levels.

He highlighted ongoing efforts by both the Federal Government and Lagos State Government to reinforce security architecture and improve public safety.

Hon. Olowa also provided updates on security interventions already implemented by the local government to protect residents and critical infrastructure.

Among the initiatives highlighted was the deployment of 71 security personnel to 28 public primary schools under the Ibeju-Lekki School Security Programme.

The Chairman noted that the programme was established to strengthen safety within school environments and provide reassurance for parents, teachers, and pupils.

He further disclosed that the local government facilitated the upgrade of the Eleko Beach Police Post into a full Police Division.

According to him, the council also donated a patrol vehicle and continues to support security operations within the division.

The meeting served as a platform to unveil additional plans designed to strengthen security across communities in the coming months.

One of the proposed initiatives is the establishment of a dedicated Police Task Force for School Monitoring under Area J Command.

The local government also plans to strengthen the Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps through the creation of Ward Vigilante Structures and Forest Guards.

The initiative aligns with directives aimed at enhancing grassroots security and improving community surveillance.

In addition to security measures, the Chairman announced plans to launch the Ibeju-Lekki Career Accelerator Programme.

The programme is expected to provide training and development opportunities for more than 1,000 young people through partnerships with industry and development organisations.

Hon. Olowa explained that youth empowerment remains an important strategy in addressing social challenges and promoting community resilience.

He added that anti-drug abuse campaigns, anti-cultism advocacy, public safety enforcement, and continued investment in educational infrastructure remain key priorities of the administration.

The royal fathers welcomed the security briefing and commended the local government for its proactive approach to protecting lives and property.

They also shared observations from their respective communities and offered recommendations on strengthening collaboration with security agencies.

Discussions focused on improving information sharing, community engagement, and collective responses to emerging security concerns.
