The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) has strengthened social welfare support across Lagos State with a ₦60 million donation to 11 orphanages, including beneficiaries from Epe.
Epe Insights reports that the initiative was led by the First Lady of Lagos State, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, during the sixth edition of COWLSO’s orphanage support programme held at Alausa, Ikeja.
The intervention included essential household items, financial support, and educational assistance for children in orphanages. It also covered funding for medical care and school-related needs.
According to organizers, the total value of support delivered this year reflects a significant increase in commitment. The programme has grown steadily since its inception in 2020.

Officials noted that over 70 orphanage homes have benefited since the programme began. The intervention has expanded from ₦5.5 million in 2020 to ₦60 million in 2026.
The First Lady emphasized that the initiative is rooted in compassion and social responsibility. She said it reflects the collective duty to support vulnerable children.
She also explained that beneficiary homes were carefully selected. A 33-member committee drawn from the IBILE divisions carried out the assessment process.
The IBILE divisions include Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos, and Epe. The selection process was described as transparent and needs-based.
Items distributed included Smart Televisions, washing machines, generators, mattresses, fans, and gas cookers. Other supplies included food items, toiletries, and medical support materials.

The First Lady stated that the donations were tailored to meet specific needs. This approach ensures better living conditions in the orphanages.
She commended the committee for its dedication. She also praised coordinators and secretaries for their role in the programme’s success.
Special recognition was given to Mrs. Azeezat Ibijoke Tijani and Mrs. Bukola Sarat Akinloye for their coordination efforts.
Caregivers in orphanage homes were also applauded. They were described as key contributors to child development and welfare.
The programme highlighted the importance of inclusivity. It aims to ensure that vulnerable children receive adequate care and support.
Stakeholders from Epe and other divisions were acknowledged for their participation. Their involvement reinforced the statewide impact of the initiative.

The First Lady reaffirmed COWLSO’s commitment to continued intervention. She promised sustained investment in social welfare programmes.
She also called for stronger collaboration across sectors. Government, private sector, and civil society were urged to work together.
The event reinforced Lagos State’s focus on social inclusion. It reflects ongoing efforts to support underserved communities, including those in Epe.
Residents are expected to benefit from improved welfare systems. The initiative strengthens support for children across the state.
