Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has held a sensitisation programme and inaugurated its statutory committees to strengthen transparency and accountability in public procurement.
Epe Insights reports that the event took place at the Council Secretariat as part of efforts to reinforce due process and effective budget implementation.
Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, formally declared the programme open and emphasised strict adherence to procurement guidelines.
He urged Heads of Departments to study their budgets carefully and comply with approved financial procedures.
The Chairman highlighted integrity, accountability, and effective in-house auditing as pillars of sound governance.
Council Manager, Dr Adekoya Adesanya, stressed the importance of discipline and compliance with procurement regulations.
He noted that adherence to budgetary provisions remains critical to delivering quality services.
Head of Procurement, Miss Issa R. Titilola, described public procurement as a vital instrument for good governance.
She outlined key principles, including value for money, fairness, transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
Facilitator, Wasiu A. Onanuga, delivered a lecture on lawful and sustainable procurement practices in local government.
He explained that strict compliance with procurement laws is essential for institutional credibility.
The programme concluded with the formal inauguration of all statutory committees.
Dignitaries present included Vice Chairman Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji and Leader of the House Hon. Olayinka Mojeed Oluwafemi.
Top management staff and department heads also attended the event.
