Lekki Local Council Development Area has partnered with the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission to organise a public awareness programme on safe drinking water within the council area.
Epe Insights reports that the programme was designed to educate residents on the importance of safe water, sanitation, and hygiene in protecting public health and sustaining a clean environment.
The awareness initiative highlighted the health risks associated with unsafe water consumption and poor sanitation practices, while promoting preventive measures at the household and community levels.

Government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, water service stakeholders, school administrators, health officers, and residents participated actively in the programme.
Speakers at the event emphasised that access to safe drinking water is critical to disease prevention, improved quality of life, and overall community development.

The programme also stressed the role of proper hygiene practices in reducing waterborne diseases and promoting environmental sustainability across Lekki LCDA.
Participants were encouraged to support regulatory efforts aimed at ensuring water quality standards and responsible water usage within communities.

The engagement provided an avenue for interaction between residents and regulatory authorities, allowing concerns and challenges related to water supply and safety to be discussed.
Officials noted that collaboration between LASWARCO and local councils remains key to achieving improved access to potable water in Lagos State.

The initiative reinforced Lekki LCDA’s commitment to public health awareness and community-driven approaches to water safety.
