Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, June 8, 2025, conducted an official inspection of the newly acquired three sets of trains for the Blue Line Rail Transit at the National Theatre Station, Iganmu.

EpeIsights believes that the arrival of the trains marks another significant milestone in the state’s ongoing effort to improve mass transit and reduce road congestion across the metropolis.

The inspection was attended by key officials, including the Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Abimbola Akinajo; Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi; Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa; and Director of Rail Transportation at LAMATA, Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga.Sanwo-Olu Inspects Newly Acquired Trains for Lagos Blue Line Rail at National Theatre Station

Speaking during the inspection, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing and expanding the Blue Line Rail project as part of the #AGreaterLagosRising agenda.

“These new trains represent progress and our unrelenting commitment to providing Lagosians with a reliable, safe, and efficient mass transit system. As we work toward full operation of the Blue Line, we are laying the foundation for a sustainable and modern transport future for our state,” the Governor said.

The newly delivered train sets are designed to enhance passenger experience with modern safety and comfort features.

Each set is built to handle high-capacity ridership and will contribute significantly to easing movement along the Marina–Okokomaiko corridor once full operations resume.

The Blue Line, a flagship component of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) network, has been developed in phases under LAMATA’s supervision.

Its full deployment is expected to cut travel time, reduce traffic pressure on roads, and improve urban mobility in the commercial capital.Sanwo-Olu Inspects Newly Acquired Trains for Lagos Blue Line Rail at National Theatre Station
