In a bold step toward reducing poverty and promoting inclusive growth, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has launched a ₦100,000 Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programme targeting 4,000 vulnerable residents across the council area.

EpeInsights reports that the initiative, fully funded by the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at empowering communities and improving the welfare of citizens at the grassroots level.

Speaking during the official flag-off ceremony at the council secretariat, Hon. Olowa, who also serves as Chairman of the Conference 57 of Local Government Chairmen in Lagos State, described the initiative as a reflection of his administration’s dedication to people-focused governance.

“Over 11,000 residents registered for the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme. Following a rigorous screening exercise, 4,000 beneficiaries were selected based on merit and need. Today, 260 beneficiaries are receiving ₦100,000 each, while others will get theirs in batches. The programme will run for 20 months, and each participant will benefit once to ensure fairness and reach,” Olowa explained.

He noted that the funds, disbursed through Fidelity Bank Plc, were structured to ensure transparency and accountability, adding that the initiative directly supports national efforts to reduce hardship and promote economic inclusion.Olowa Launches ₦100,000 Cash Transfer Scheme for 4,000 Vulnerable Residents in Ibeju-Lekki

“This programme embodies the spirit of the Renewed Hope Agenda, empowering the vulnerable, building resilient families, and promoting financial independence. I urge all beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and turn this support into lasting progress,” the chairman advised.

According to him, the CCT targets women, unemployed youth, persons with disabilities, and residents with medical conditions, while those not captured in the current phase will be eligible for the Health Insurance Scheme soon to be introduced by his administration.

The Ọba of Orimedu, Oba Abidemi Yisa Toheeb, commended Hon. Olowa for his commitment to grassroots empowerment and transparent leadership.

“Hon. Olowa has proven once again to be a leader with vision and compassion. This initiative is timely and will go a long way in alleviating the hardship many families face,” the monarch said.

Beneficiaries at the event expressed deep appreciation.

Mr. Aliasan Yusuf, a trader, said the ₦100,000 would help expand his business. Similarly, Mrs. Folashade, a foodstuff seller, described the support as a “lifeline” that would help her restock her shop, while Mr. Olufemi Bello, a block maker, lauded the chairman as “a true man of the people.”

The event also featured a short documentary showcasing success stories and personal testimonies from previous beneficiaries of the council’s empowerment programmes.

Traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders present described the initiative as another milestone in Olowa’s administration’s ongoing commitment to economic empowerment and community development.
