The Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, has dismissed allegations that he influenced or “snatched” the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Area leadership position in Eredo LCDA, insisting that the party’s leadership emerged through a consensus process.
Epe Insights reports that Hon. Akinloye made the clarification in response to a press statement issued by Mr. Blessing Bola Jacob regarding the APC LGA leadership in Eredo LCDA, describing the allegations against him as false, misleading and contrary to the facts.
The chairman began by reaffirming his respect for former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, whom he described as one of the most respected political leaders from Epe Division.
He noted that Ambode remains a distinguished statesman whose contributions to the development of Lagos State and Epe Division continue to be appreciated by party members and residents alike.
According to Hon. Akinloye, neither the APC leadership in Eredo LCDA nor its stakeholders have ever sought to diminish the political legacy or contributions of the former governor.
He stressed that Ambode continues to enjoy the respect and admiration of party leaders across the division.
Addressing the controversy, the chairman explained that before the APC Local Government Congress held on February 7, 2026, party leaders from Eredo LCDA met with the Divisional Leader and Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) member, Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu.
The meeting, held at the GAC leader’s residence in Epe, was convened to deliberate on the proposed composition of the APC Local Government Executive.
Hon. Akinloye stated that extensive consultations were held among party leaders before a consensus list was adopted.
He explained that the agreed list received the endorsement and signatures of leaders present at the meeting, including Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu.
According to the chairman, the outcome of the congress reflected a collective decision reached after consultations rather than the action of any single individual.
He therefore rejected claims that he personally influenced the emergence of the party leadership or displaced any political leader from the process.
Hon. Akinloye described the allegation that he “snatched” a position from former Governor Ambode as entirely unfounded.
He warned that such claims have the potential to create unnecessary tension within the party and misrepresent the events that led to the emergence of the APC LGA Executive in Eredo LCDA.
The chairman urged party members and supporters to rely on verified information rather than speculation capable of causing division.
He also disclosed that the leadership of the APC in Lagos State has already constituted a committee to examine issues surrounding the Eredo LCDA party leadership.
According to him, the committee has been mandated to review the matter in line with the party’s constitution and established internal procedures.
Hon. Akinloye expressed confidence in the integrity, competence and impartiality of the committee handling the assignment.
He said he believes the committee will arrive at a fair decision after reviewing all relevant facts and submissions.
While awaiting the committee’s findings, the chairman appealed to party members, stakeholders and supporters to remain calm and exercise restraint.
He advised against making comments or taking actions capable of undermining the ongoing internal review process.
According to him, every member of the APC has a responsibility to protect the unity and stability of the party.
He reiterated that the outcome of the committee’s work should be respected by all members once officially announced through the party’s constitutional processes.
Hon. Akinloye reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, unity and progress within the APC in Eredo LCDA.
He maintained that his administration and political leadership remain focused on strengthening party cohesion while supporting the continued development of Eredo LCDA.
Political observers have described internal dispute resolution through established party mechanisms as an important step in preserving harmony and institutional stability.
They noted that allowing constituted authorities to complete their assignment without interference remains essential to maintaining confidence in the party’s democratic processes.
The chairman concluded by urging party faithful and members of the public to disregard narratives capable of creating unnecessary misunderstanding, while allowing the APC leadership to conclude its review in accordance with the party’s constitution.
He emphasised that the unity of the APC and the continued progress of Eredo LCDA should remain the collective priority of every stakeholder.
