The Maureen Idehen-Ovabor Foundation has begun distributing welcome-back packs to participants in the second edition of the Bosede Idehen 5-A-Side Football Competition, reinforcing its commitment to education, sports, and community development.
Epe Insights reports that the initiative is designed to extend the impact of the recently concluded football tournament beyond the football field by providing practical educational support to children as they resume for a new academic session.
According to the foundation, the Welcome-Back Project will distribute school bags, books, and other learning materials to children in the community, especially those whose families may face challenges providing essential school supplies.
The foundation also plans to extend the outreach to selected public schools and other locations within the community, where children in need of educational assistance will be identified and supported.
The initiative is in line with the foundation’s stated focus on education, empowerment and youth development, which have remained key components of its activities.
The second edition of the Bosede Idehen 5-A-Side Football Tournament brought together young footballers from schools within the community, providing participants with an opportunity to showcase their talents while promoting teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Josab School emerged as champions, while Dee Unique School finished in second place and Bosede Idehen International Academy secured third position.
However, the foundation’s latest intervention goes beyond sporting activities, with emphasis now placed on helping children access basic educational materials needed for a successful return to school.
Through the provision of school bags and books, the programme seeks to support children and families while reducing some of the challenges associated with preparing for a new academic session.
The initiative is also connected to the educational legacy of the Idehen family. Mrs Maureen Idehen-Ovabor, who leads the foundation, is associated with Springfield Private School and Bosede Idehen International Academy in Lagos.
Public reports on the foundation’s activities have highlighted its involvement in sports, education, character development and youth empowerment, with its programmes aimed at creating opportunities for young people.
