Lekki Local Council Development Area has carried out an empowerment programme targeted at women, youths, and small-scale business owners to promote self-reliance and economic growth within the community.
Epe Insights reports that the initiative featured the distribution of vocational tools and business equipment aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening grassroots entrepreneurship across the LCDA.
Speaking at the programme, Mrs Kasali explained that the initiative was designed to go beyond short-term support by creating sustainable opportunities for beneficiaries.
She emphasised that empowerment is not limited to handing out items but focuses on long-term impact, family stability, and community development.
According to her, the programme seeks to equip beneficiaries with practical tools that enable them to become self-reliant and economically productive.
Beneficiaries received a wide range of empowerment items, including sewing machines, grinding machines, popcorn machines, barbing kits with generators, makeup kits, hairdressing kits, soap-making chemicals, and Point-of-Sale machines.
The empowerment drive aligns with the people-focused development agenda of the Lekki LCDA administration under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali.
Mrs Kasali expressed appreciation to the chairman for his consistent support, noting that the programme reflects the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents.
She also acknowledged the support of party leaders, the Vice Chairman, councillors, and the council management team led by Otunba Olayiwola Giwa for their contributions to the success of the initiative.
Community members and beneficiaries applauded the programme, describing it as timely and impactful.
They noted that the empowerment initiative will enhance productivity, promote entrepreneurship, and contribute to sustained economic growth within Lekki LCDA.
