The wife of the Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs Ramat Bola Kasali, has visited the Orimedu skill acquisition centre to encourage trainees who recently commenced their vocational training.
Epe Insights reports that the visit followed the successful enrollment of beneficiaries into the skill acquisition programme initiated by Mrs Kasali in August 2025, aimed at empowering youths across Lekki LCDA with practical and marketable skills.
Mrs Kasali personally sponsors the programme, covering registration fees for all participants to remove financial barriers and ensure inclusive access to vocational training opportunities.

She has also sustained her commitment by financing the trainees’ practical sessions and providing essential training equipment every week to support effective learning.
With registration concluded, the beneficiaries have officially begun their training, which is scheduled to run for nine months and focuses on hands-on skills development for self-reliance and employability.
During her visit, Mrs Kasali interacted with the trainees, inspected the facilities, and urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and dedicated throughout the training period.
She described the initiative as a long-term investment in youth development, stressing that skills acquisition is a vital tool for economic empowerment, especially in the face of current economic challenges.
Mrs Kasali emphasised that equipping young people with practical skills would reduce unemployment and enhance sustainable livelihoods within Lekki LCDA.
The trainees expressed appreciation for her continued support and personal involvement, noting that her visit boosted their morale and confidence in the programme.
They described the initiative as timely and impactful, pledging to maximize the opportunity and apply the skills gained productively.
The programme aligns with the Lekki LCDA administration’s broader commitment to youth empowerment, job creation, and community development.
Through initiatives like this, the council continues to promote self-reliance and inclusive growth among young residents of the area.
