Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has actively participated in the inauguration of the Local Government Committee on Food and Nutrition (LGCFN), reaffirming its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of residents.
Epe Insights reports that the two-day event, convened by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with UNICEF Nigeria, focused on establishing functional committees across all LGAs and LCDAs to strengthen grassroots food and nutrition initiatives.
The engagement emphasized key areas such as food security, nutrition awareness, and community-level interventions to enhance the health of residents. Representatives shared strategies to promote better dietary practices and reduce malnutrition.
Officials from Lekki LCDA highlighted their commitment to supporting the committee’s mandate, promising active involvement in planning and executing programs that will benefit families and vulnerable groups.
The inauguration also included workshops and interactive sessions where participants exchanged best practices for improving nutrition education and community engagement.
Stakeholders stressed the importance of multi-sector collaboration in achieving sustainable health outcomes, noting that partnerships between government, NGOs, and local authorities are critical to success.
The initiative aligns with broader state and national efforts to strengthen public health infrastructure, improve food distribution, and raise awareness about the nutritional needs of communities.
Lekki LCDA officials pledged to monitor progress, ensure compliance, and support initiatives that translate into tangible health benefits for residents.
The LGCFN program is expected to serve as a model for other local councils, demonstrating how targeted interventions can enhance community health and nutrition outcomes effectively.
