In a move that underscores Lagos State’s growing commitment to environmental sustainability, the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) management team has paid a courtesy visit to the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, at the District Headquarters in Maryland, Lagos.

EpeInsights learnt that the visit, led by Mrs. Olayinka Oladini, LASPARK’s Greener Lagos Manager, was aimed at congratulating Mr. Sanni on his recent appointment and exploring ways to deepen collaboration between both institutions.

The discussion centered on advancing LASPARK’s mandate to establish and maintain functional parks, gardens, and recreational spaces across Lagos, particularly within school environments.

According to Mrs. Oladini, LASPARK’s vision of promoting a cleaner, greener and healthier Lagos is one that aligns seamlessly with the education sector’s goal of fostering environmental awareness among students.

She commended the successive administrations of Education District II for their consistent support of the Agency’s initiatives, noting that the partnership has contributed significantly to beautifying learning spaces and instilling eco-friendly values in young learners.

“Education District II has always been a reliable partner in our journey towards a greener Lagos. We are confident that under Mr. Sanni’s leadership, this collaboration will continue to thrive, bringing even more innovation to school-based environmental projects,”

Mrs. Oladini was accompanied by Mrs. Onatunde, Mr. Sulaiman, and other members of the LASPARK team during the visit.

In his response, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni expressed appreciation to the LASPARK delegation for their visit and their ongoing efforts to enhance the state’s environmental landscape.

He applauded the Agency’s achievements in beautification, tree planting, and public space maintenance, describing their work as vital to creating a healthier learning and living environment.

The courtesy visit reflects the Lagos State Government’s broader agenda under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus development framework, which emphasizes environmental management, education, and public engagement as key drivers of sustainable urban growth.
