Jandor Officially Welcomed Back to APC by Lagos GAC
Former PDP governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran (aka Jandor), has been officially received into the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC).
EpeInsights reports that this development comes weeks after Jandor’s high-profile defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he contested the 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election.
In a statement released on Thursday by his media aide, Pastor Gbenga Ogunleye, Jandor confirmed that the GAC, led by its Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, formally received him during a meeting in Saudi Arabia.
Other notable APC leaders present included: Chief Rabiu Oluwa, Badagry Division APC Apex Leader, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.
The meeting took place during the ongoing Umrah pilgrimage, making it both a spiritual and symbolic occasion. Adediran described the gathering as “a significant show of unity and goodwill.”
“This encounter reflects a shared commitment to the progress and unity of Lagos State,” he said. “It underscores the enduring values of collective responsibility and synergy in the furtherance of the ruling party’s vision.”
From APC to PDP… and Back Again
Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has come full circle in his political journey, transitioning from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and now, back to the APC.
Once a governorship aspirant under APC, Jandor made a dramatic exit from the ruling party in 2021, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership in Lagos. His move was seen as a bold step in his bid to reshape Lagos politics. He founded the Lagos4Lagos Movement, a faction aimed at challenging the status quo and creating a platform for a new political era in the state.
However, the political tides soon shifted. After a tough battle within the PDP, and with his candidacy for the 2023 governorship election under the opposition party not yielding the desired results, Jandor took another bold decision: he defected from PDP in March 2025, citing issues of “indiscipline and betrayal” by party leadership.
What This Means for Lagos Politics
Jandor’s return to the APC and endorsement by the powerful GAC could reshape the political landscape in Lagos. As the Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, he brings a sizable grassroots following that may strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
Observers see his re-entry as a strategic consolidation move for the APC, which continues to dominate the state’s political scene.
