Lagos State is taking bold steps towards transforming its education sector with the launch of a new capacity-building initiative aimed at training 5,000 teachers in modern educational technology.

EpeInsights reports that the initiative, announced during the recent Ministerial Press Briefing marking the sixth anniversary of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu‘s administration, is set to elevate teaching standards across the state’s post-primary schools.

The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) revealed plans to empower its educators with the latest pedagogical techniques and subject-matter expertise, ensuring that teachers are equipped to meet the evolving demands of the classroom.

According to the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, the first batch of 5,000 teachers will be selected from a pool of 18,438 educators across the state, signaling a major commitment to improving the quality of education.

“We are setting the stage for an era of transformation within Lagos State’s educational system,” Oyekan-Ismaila said.

“This capacity-building program is a key element in our strategy to ensure that every teacher has access to the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to provide world-class education to our students.”

In an exciting development, TESCOM is also introducing a groundbreaking Exchange Programme designed to foster collaboration between teachers in public and private post-primary schools.

This initiative aims to synchronize teaching methodologies, promote the sharing of best practices, and create a more unified and effective education system across the state.

Technology Integration: Empowering Teachers with Essential Devices

Further enhancing this technological revolution, TESCOM will be distributing 1,000 essential devices to teachers across various Education Districts.

These devices are intended to help educators seamlessly integrate technology into their teaching practices, making the learning experience more engaging and impactful for students.

Oyekan-Ismaila emphasized that these tools are not just about providing devices but about ensuring that teachers can effectively use them to enhance their teaching techniques and enrich the classroom experience.

In addition to the training and technology provisions, TESCOM will soon host a Teachers Conference to provide a platform for educators to interact directly with the Ministry’s leadership.

This conference will serve as an opportunity for teachers to voice their concerns, share ideas, and discuss the future of education in Lagos State.

The initiatives align with the broader vision of the Basic and Secondary Education Ministry to prioritize teacher empowerment, innovation, and the adoption of cutting-edge teaching practices.Lagos State Logo
