Lagos State Government has responded to concerns raised by residents and commuters over the ongoing rehabilitation of the Lekki–Ajah corridor, assuring the public that the project has been structured to minimise inconvenience, especially as the festive season approaches.

EpeInsights reports that in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, the government explained that the rehabilitation would be carried out in carefully planned phases to ensure that traffic flow is maintained throughout the construction period.

Only designated segments of the corridor will undergo repairs at any point in time, and these locations have been strategically selected to reduce pressure on the main carriageway.

To further ease movement, the government has begun opening and reinforcing alternative routes, including the Coastal Road and adjoining service lanes, to serve as smoother diversion options where necessary.

A night-shift system has also been activated for major components of the work so that construction activities take place primarily when traffic volume is low.

Hon. Giwa added that a comprehensive traffic management plan has been deployed, with LASTMA officers stationed in significant numbers across the entire stretch of the corridor to ensure steady movement, prevent gridlock and promptly address any bottlenecks that may occur during peak hours.

He noted that the objective of the rehabilitation is to enhance the quality of travel along the Lekki–Ajah corridor, not to create hardship for residents and businesses.

He appealed for patience and cooperation from members of the public as the government works to deliver long-term improvements that will make commuting safer, faster, and more convenient.

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to providing world-class infrastructure and pledged to continue engaging with stakeholders as the project advances.
