In a bold move to modernize its education assessment processes, the Lagos State Government has launched the e-registration and payment portal for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), reinforcing its commitment to seamless, tech-driven governance.
EpeInsights reports that the Lagos State Examinations Board confirmed that the digital registration process, which began on Monday, January 27, will run until Friday, April 26, 2025. School administrators are expected to complete all necessary steps online—eliminating the need for physical visits to the Board’s offices.
Director of the Examinations Board, Mr. Adebayo Orunsolu, emphasized that all schools must use unique access codes for registration. Public Junior Secondary Schools are to download the required Offline Data Capturing Application at https://bece.examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng. In contrast, approved Private Junior Secondary Schools, Schools with Special Permission, and Continuing Education Centres (CEC) must process payments and generate login details via https://pay.examsboard.com.ng.
The cost of registration has been pegged at:₦6,000 for approved Private JSS and Public CECs as well as ₦9,500 for Schools with Special Permission and Private CECs
Orunsolu issued a clear directive to schools with special-needs candidates—including pupils with visual impairments and albinism—to notify the Board in writing to enable appropriate accommodations during the exam.

He warned that failure to comply with the registration schedule could result in late penalties and urged school heads to follow all outlined procedures carefully. Further updates and clarifications will be provided through the Zonal Officers.
“This is more than a registration process; it’s a reflection of the State’s commitment to equity, access, and innovation in education,” Orunsolu stated.
