The Community Development Committee (CDC) in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area has held its monthly meeting to discuss key issues affecting residents and community growth.

Epe Insights reports that the meeting took place at the council’s multipurpose hall and was presided over by the CDC Chairman, Alhaji Abdusalam Olalekan.

In his opening remarks, the chairman stressed the importance of collaboration between government and community stakeholders.

He noted that such engagements are essential for generating ideas, addressing challenges, and improving the living standards of residents.

The committee also acknowledged the distribution of free JAMB forms to support educational advancement among youths.

Members discussed the National Social Register (NSR) programme, which includes ATM card distribution to vulnerable groups.

Other highlighted interventions include free health mission programmes and the upcoming Ilera Eko health insurance registration.

The chairman also referenced plans for a CDC office and provision of a bus to support committee operations.

The reintroduction of monthly environmental sanitation exercise was also noted as a key step toward maintaining a cleaner environment.

Upcoming LASSRA registration across Community Development Associations (CDAs) was also discussed.

Security issues were addressed during the meeting, with emphasis on protecting public infrastructure.

Members stressed the importance of surveillance on electrical installations to prevent vandalization.

Plans to establish a high-level committee for revitalizing power supply in parts of Epe Division were also revealed.

Infrastructure development efforts, including construction and rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres, schools, and police stations, were highlighted.

Participants raised concerns over pressing social issues affecting the community.

These include security challenges, child abuse, domestic violence, and other related concerns.

A representative of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Victor Ajijedidun, urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly.

He emphasized the role of community vigilance in enhancing safety and preventing crime.

Representing the council chairman, Hon. Abass Saheed Tokunbo, Supervisor for Agriculture, addressed members at the meeting.

He assured participants of the council’s commitment to tackling identified challenges.

He reiterated that the local government will continue to implement policies and programmes that support community development.

The meeting concluded with a renewed call for active participation from residents in community-building efforts.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that sustained collaboration would lead to improved living conditions across Ikosi-Ejinrin.
