The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has donated ₦5 million to the Ibeju-Lekki Security Trust Fund to support efforts to improve security and protect lives and property across the area.

Epe Insights reports that the donation strengthens the partnership between the local government and the Mayfair Gardens Estate Residents’ Association, aimed at promoting a sustainable, community-driven approach to security funding.

The initiative is designed to encourage greater participation from residential estates, corporate organisations and other stakeholders in supporting security operations across Ibeju-Lekki.

The Security Trust Fund will support key areas of security development, including the provision of improved equipment, personnel training, information technology, intelligence gathering and stronger community engagement.

These measures are intended to support security operations and promote better cooperation between communities and relevant authorities.

Olowa has urged estate residents’ associations, estate managers and corporate organisations across the Ibeju-Lekki axis to contribute to the fund and support the collective effort to improve safety.

He emphasised that protecting lives and property requires shared responsibility and sustained collaboration among government institutions, private organisations and residents.

The chairman’s appeal highlights the importance of partnerships in addressing security concerns at the community level. Through collective contributions, stakeholders can support initiatives that respond to local needs and strengthen existing security efforts.

The collaboration with Mayfair Gardens Estate Residents’ Association provides a foundation for encouraging other estates to participate in the initiative. Residential communities can play a role by supporting security funding and working with relevant authorities to identify concerns affecting their neighbourhoods.

Corporate organisations are also being encouraged to contribute to the fund as part of a wider effort to promote safer communities. Their participation could help expand the resources available to support security priorities across the local government area.

The proposed investment in security equipment is intended to support operational requirements, while personnel training can help strengthen the skills and preparedness of those involved in security activities.

Information technology is another area identified for support. Depending on the systems deployed, technology can assist communication, information management and coordination among relevant stakeholders.

The fund will also support intelligence gathering and community engagement. These areas can encourage cooperation between residents and security stakeholders, helping to improve information sharing and awareness of local security concerns.

As Ibeju-Lekki continues to develop, effective security remains important to residents, business owners and investors. A safer environment can support everyday activities, protect property and strengthen confidence among people living and working in the area.

The local government’s approach places emphasis on collective participation rather than relying exclusively on public resources. By inviting estate associations and corporate stakeholders to contribute, the administration is seeking broader support for community security.

However, the long-term effectiveness of the initiative will depend on sustained contributions, transparent management of funds and the effective use of resources to address identified security needs.

The ₦5 million donation by Olowa represents a contribution towards the fund’s objectives, while the call for wider participation seeks to encourage more stakeholders to support the initiative.

The partnership also highlights the potential benefits of cooperation between government and private communities in developing practical responses to local security challenges.

Olowa reiterated that safeguarding lives and property is a shared responsibility, urging estate managers, residents’ associations and corporate organisations to work together towards a safer Ibeju-Lekki.

The Security Trust Fund is expected to provide a platform for interested stakeholders to support security operations and contribute to the protection of communities across the local government area.

Through continued collaboration and responsible investment, the initiative aims to strengthen community participation in security efforts and promote a safer environment for residents and businesses.
