Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, alongside the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, and members of the 2027 Lagos APC Campaign Council, visited Bishop David Oyedepo, Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel.
Epe Insights reports that the delegation visited Bishop Oyedepo on Sunday as part of an engagement with the cleric, with Hamzat saying the team sought his counsel on issues concerning the future of Lagos State.
The visit brought together members of the campaign council led by the APC governorship candidate and the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
Hamzat is the APC candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, while Sonayon-James is the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
The Lagos APC campaign council structure lists Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Chairman, with Hamzat serving as Deputy Chairman.
Sonayon-James is listed as Vice Chairman III of the campaign council, while former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro serves as Director-General.
The council was inaugurated in September as part of the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections. Its structure includes several directorates and subcommittees covering different areas of campaign organisation.
The delegation’s meeting with Bishop Oyedepo provided an opportunity for interaction between the political team and the respected Christian cleric.
According to reports on the engagement, Hamzat said the delegation listened to Bishop Oyedepo and sought his perspective on the direction of Lagos State.
The deputy governor also described the engagement as an opportunity to receive guidance on leadership and service.
The visit comes as political parties and candidates continue preparations for the 2027 elections in Lagos State.
The APC has already constituted its campaign council, with responsibilities assigned across various committees and directorates.
The council includes representatives with responsibilities covering legal and compliance matters, party and inter-party affairs, administration and logistics, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations.
Hamzat’s involvement in the campaign council follows his emergence as the APC’s governorship candidate for the 2027 Lagos election.
The party announced Sonayon-James as his running mate in June 2026, ahead of the election scheduled for February 2027.
The meeting with Bishop Oyedepo also comes shortly after the formal inauguration of the Lagos APC Campaign Council.
At the inauguration, Hamzat reportedly urged members of the party to base their campaign on facts, data and verifiable records.
The campaign council has therefore begun organising its activities ahead of the election, with various members assigned specific responsibilities.
The visit to Bishop Oyedepo adds another engagement to the activities involving the APC campaign leadership as the 2027 election approaches.
For the delegation, the meeting provided an avenue to hear from the cleric and discuss issues connected to leadership and the future direction of Lagos.
Bishop Oyedepo is the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, one of Nigeria’s prominent Christian organisations, commonly known as Winners’ Chapel.
The church’s headquarters is located at Canaanland in Ota, Ogun State.
The visit was also reported to have included members of the APC campaign team accompanying Hamzat and Sonayon-James.
The delegation’s engagement with the cleric reflects the range of stakeholder interactions taking place ahead of the 2027 political season.
As preparations continue, the Lagos APC campaign council is expected to carry out activities through its various directorates and subcommittees.
The party’s campaign structure includes leadership at state level as well as officials responsible for specialised areas of engagement.
